The Centennial tennis team is headed to the state semifinals for the fourth straight season, again representing FISD and its standout tennis programs.

The Centennial tennis team is headed to a fourth straight UIL state tournament, and next week the Titans hope to win a third straight 5A championship.
The Titans have battled the best to get there, taking down Highland Park in the third round and fellow Frisco ISD power Independence on Friday in the 5A Region II championship. It was the second straight year that Centennial and Independence met in the regional final, the last step before the state tournament.
Panther Creek got to that step in Class 4A, and on Friday, the Panthers nearly took down Texarkana Pleasant Grove for a spot in the state tournament. It was the best season in the short history of Panther Creek.
What’s next for Centennial?
The Titans, who have outscored their opponents 52-12 in the playoffs, will play Wednesday (Oct. 22) in the 5A state semifinals at the Hurd Tennis Center on the campus of Baylor University in Waco. Centennial, which is ranked No. 2 in the state in 5A, will take on top-ranked Abilene Wylie at 11:30 a.m.
The winner of that semifinal will play in the championship at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday – also at the Hurd Tennis Center.
Winning a third straight state title was the goal for Centennial when the season began, as detailed in this story, and now the Titans are two wins away from doing it.
