The brilliant creativity of one FISD student artist has come to life in a vibrant mural up now at the PGA of America headquarters in Frisco.

The piece by mural contest winner Annie Jiang, who won last year as a fifth grader at Anderson Elementary and is a current student at Vandeventer Middle School, was completed in October at the PGA Coaching Center. Annie even had a chance to assist Celina artist Bristen Phillips in painting the mural.

Anderson art teacher Jessica Jones is excited to see Annie and her art recognized by the PGA.

“I love that we are able to showcase athletics and the arts together,” Jones said. “Annie is an amazing artist and athlete herself. I am so proud of Annie and excited to brag on her every time I am at the Frisco PGA!”

Frisco ISD and the PGA teamed up on the mural contest last school year, drawing 12 finalists from a pool of more than 500 submissions by FISD students. Kindergarten through 12th grade students were asked to find inspiration in the ideas that anyone can play golf and from that idea that golf is a pastime for a lifetime.

Frisco ISD celebrates the many ways students benefit from the District’s corporate and community partnerships. For example, through the partnership with PGA, FISD students not only practice and compete on world-class courses, they can learn more about sports management careers and take part in artistic competitions such as the mural contest.

Finalists were recognized at a ceremony in May at the PGA. See a slideshow of the finalists’ works.

Congratulations to Annie and the rest of the mural competition finalists!
