The inaugural award recognizes middle school principals who are driving excellence in STEM teaching and learning.
Lawler Middle School and principal Colivian Greene have been honored with the new Middle School Principal STEM Award, receiving at least $7,000 as part of the award.
The honor — made possible through a partnership between Region 10 ESC, Communities Foundation of Texas, Educate Texas and a group of STEM professionals across North Texas — aims to identify and celebrate middle school principals who are driving excellence in STEM teaching and learning.
“We are honored to receive this prestigious award,” Greene said. “We take pride as a campus in following the district mission of ‘Knowing every student by name and need’ and our campus mission of ‘Empowering Legends for the future.’”
Schools were selected for the award based on their eighth grade science and algebra I scores in high-need STEM populations.
"We are incredibly proud to see Lawler Middle School recognized as a leader in STEM education,” said Christy Fiori, chief academic officer. “This honor is a reflection of the hard work and visionary leadership of principal Colivian Greene, and it highlights Frisco ISD’s commitment to fostering a culture of innovation and excellence in STEM across our schools.”
