For the 11th straight year, Frisco ISD has been named among the Best Communities for Music Education by the NAMM Foundation.
With this honor, NAMM recognizes school districts across the country that demonstrate a commitment to ensuring music learning opportunities are available for every student. The recognition underscores the value of music education in the District.
“Being named one of the Best Communities for Music Education affirms the deep commitment Frisco ISD music educators bring to their work,” said Chris Cansler, assistant director of fine arts. “It’s not just about teaching music — it’s about inspiring creativity, building confidence and enriching lives. Our community sees that, and that’s why they stand behind our programs and the educators who make them exceptional.”
Tens of thousands of students are enriched with a Frisco ISD music education each year. In elementary, all 26,755 students took weekly music classes last school year. In middle school, 7,063 students were in choir, orchestra or band; in high school, 4,927 students took part.
To qualify for the designation, FISD answered detailed questions about funding, graduation requirements, music class participation, instruction time, facilities and support for the music program. Responses were verified by school officials and reviewed by arts educational research firm WolfBrown.
