Access Frisco introduces opportunities for new students while maximizing district resources.

Frisco ISD is excited to announce the launch of the Access Frisco program, a new initiative welcoming students in kindergarten through seventh grade from neighboring communities to attend Frisco schools starting in the 2025-26 school year.

After years of rapid growth, Frisco ISD is experiencing an enrollment plateau or decline in some areas, leaving space available on various campuses. Access Frisco opens these seats to students from outside the District, creating opportunities for families while generating much-needed revenue to sustain District operations. Currently, over a dozen districts in the Dallas-Fort Worth area offer expanded enrollment as a part of their organizational framework.

Applications open in December, and space will be limited to select campuses to ensure the program maximizes campus resources and maintains operational efficiency.

  • Priority applications: Dec. 16 - Jan. 10

  • Regular applications: Jan. 14 - Jan. 24

The program strategically uses existing space and staffing to optimize efficiency without adding costs. By carefully selecting campuses with lower-than-optimal enrollment and building ideal class sizes, Access Frisco fosters collaboration, engagement and meaningful relationships, creating an environment where students succeed.

“We’re committed to ensuring every student has the chance to thrive in a supportive and innovative learning environment,” said Albert Leal, managing director of student services. “This carefully designed program ensures we can grow efficiently, preserving what makes FISD unique while making a greater impact.”

Program enrollment

  • Enrollment is based on space availability and student eligibility.

  • Students must meet attendance, academic and behavioral standards to enroll and remain in the program.

Key benefits

  • Optimizes the use of existing campus resources and staff.

  • Promotes balanced and sustainable enrollment growth.

  • Strengthens connections with neighboring communities.

  • Generates additional revenue for District operations.

“Frisco ISD receives additional revenue through the state’s funding formula for each new student that enrolls in our district,” said Kimberly Smith, chief finance and strategy officer. “By strategically placing new students where space is available, we can generate substantial revenue while avoiding extra costs. For every 100 students enrolled through this program, Frisco ISD expects to generate approximately $750,000 in funding – helping us maintain financial stability while inviting others to experience Frisco ISD’s excellence in education.”

With Access Frisco, Frisco ISD reaffirms its commitment to offering unparalleled student opportunities and building a stronger, more diverse community.
