he outstanding students of Frisco ISD’s DECA programs rose to the occasion at the State Career Development Conference this spring, with 220 advancing to the international competition in late April.
Also at the state conference, Wakeland High School teacher Craig Drenowatz earned the prestigious recognition of 2024-25 Texas DECA Chapter Advisor of the Year. Centennial High School teacher Tommy Thompson was named Texas DECA Outstanding New Advisor.
Two Frisco ISD students were also elected 2025-26 Texas DECA officers: Wakeland’s Hayden Lee and Reedy’s Nikhil Savanthi.
DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality and management. DECA is one of several career and technical student organizations offered in Frisco ISD that develop future-ready skills through academic competition.
