Frisco Education Foundation Nominated for Chamber Award

The Frisco Education Foundation has been nominated in the Frisco Chamber of Commerce’s Five Star Awards! The awards, which recognize Frisco organizations, businesses and individuals, are handed out at the chamber’s annual gala, held this month at Omni PGA. Celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, the Frisco Education Foundation supports the Frisco ISD community with educator grants, senior scholarships and educational programs.

Middle School Theater Shines at UIL Zone Contest

Frisco ISD’s middle school theater programs made a splash at last weekend’s Zone Contests for UIL One-Act Play and Theatrical Design. Advancing to the District-level competition are:

DECA Students Move to State Competition

Hundreds of DECA students from across Frisco ISD are advancing to the state competition after success at the District 7 Career Development Conference in January. About 2,100 FISD competitors faced off with students from other area districts, with 780 moving on to the state competition in March. Every Frisco ISD high school will be represented. Also at the district contest, Centennial’s Charvita Malepati and Wakeland’s Tad Tolbert were named president and vice president, respectively, on the District 7 officer team. DECA is a career and technical student organization that teaches students business principles. Congratulations and good luck at the state contest!

FISD Students Headed to BPA State Contest

Congratulations to the nearly 350 Frisco ISD BPA students who will compete at state after qualifying at the BPA Regional Leadership Conference in January! With more than 1,900 FISD students participating in the district BPA event, the competition was fierce. The 348 students moving on will test their skills in the business field at the state level in late February. Best of luck at state!

3 High Schools Win AP Computer Science Award

Three Frisco ISD high schools have been awarded the College Board’s AP Computer Science Female Diversity Award. The award is given to schools that have either reached 50% or higher female exam taker representation in one of or both AP computer science courses, or a percentage of female computer science exam takers that meets or exceeds that of the school’s female population. Congratulations to Frisco, Liberty and Lone Star high schools!

Artwork by 2 FISD Students to be Displayed at Capitol

Two Frisco ISD students will have their artwork displayed at the Texas Capitol for Youth Art Month. Centennial’s Elizabeth Glasgow and Purefoy’s Maddox Wood were selected to be part of the Capitol exhibit from Feb. 29-March 3. Their artwork will then move to the Bullock Texas State History Museum through April 3. A celebration and awards reception will take place at the Bullock Museum to recognize the winning students and their teachers. Great job, Elizabeth and Maddox!

FFA Students Advance in Speaking Development Event

FFA students had a strong showing at the FFA District IV Speaking Development Event Contest last month, with Frisco ISD students advancing to Area V in eight out of nine speaking events after earning first place at district. Speaking Development Events aim to enhance the ability of FFA members to confidently express themselves on various topics. These events encourage students to strengthen their communication skills and effectively organize their thoughts for diverse situations. Access a list of winners.
