Athletic competition in Frisco ISD is designed to develop student-athletes into leaders by fostering character, sportsmanship and academic achievement that prepares them for what’s next in their lives. Competing at a high level is also a goal, and the achievements of teams and individual students during the 2024-25 school year show how much was accomplished.

Leading the way were the two FISD teams that won state championships during the 2024-25 school year.

In October, Centennial won the 5A team tennis championship for the second straight year. It was a dominant season for the Titans, who started the season No. 1 in the 5A rankings and never fell from that spot.

A month later, the Wakeland volleyball team became the first FISD team to win a state volleyball title. Wakeland swept Cedar Park in the 5A Division II championship match after beating Argyle in an epic five-set match in the state semifinal.

In addition to the state champions, four FISD teams finished as a state runner-up. That included the Reedy girls swim and dive team, which was the 2024 5A state champion. Other state runners-up included the Wakeland girls soccer team, the Centennial girls golf team and the Heritage boys track and field team.

Another five FISD teams finished either in the top three of state or as a state semifinalist:

Wakeland boys cross country (3rd)

Wakeland boys swim and dive (3rd)

Panther Creek girls swim and dive (3rd)

Memorial girls basketball (5A Division II semifinalist)

Heritage boys basketball (5A Division I semifinalist)

FISD athletes also had a year of tremendous individual success in sports such as golf, swim and dive, tennis, track and field and wrestling. FISD athletes won 36 medals in individual events and there were 10 individual state champions:

Swimming: Jackson Armour, Wakeland (2 championships)

Track and field: CJ Williams, Heritage (2 championships)

Track and field: Cordial Vann, Heritage

Track and field: Davian Groce, Lone Star

Wrestling: Michael Brennan, Wakeland

Golf: Luke Colton, Wakeland

Tennis: Aaditt Rishi/Addison Rosser, Lebanon Trail

Tennis: Aariz Rehman, Panther Creek

District and playoff results for the 2024-25 school year, along with a long list of FISD’s historical athletics accomplishments, can be found in the FISD Athletics Archives.
