HOSA Students Advance to State Competition
Over 60 HOSA students from Frisco ISD will compete at the state level after top performances in the Area Spring Leadership Conference. Sixty-eight students from eight FISD high schools advanced to state, with another 42 as alternates. Ten more students qualified for state by scoring in the top three on their online tests. HOSA provides a unique program of leadership development, motivation and recognition for students in health science programs. Access a list of Area HOSA results. Campuses Make Texas Honor Roll
Five Frisco ISD campuses have been named to the 2024 Texas Honor Roll by the Educational Results Partnership! Schools named to the Honor Roll performed higher on the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness, for all cohorts of student populations served, and improved outcomes for historically underserved student populations. The following Frisco ISD schools were honored: Lawler Middle School, McSpedden Elementary, Nichols Elementary, Pink Elementary and Talley Elementary.
Social Studies Coordinator Elected to Association Board
Frisco ISD social studies coordinator Jeremiah Rush has been elected vice president on the board of the Texas Social Studies Leaders Association. Rush has spent 29 years in education, 16 of those in Frisco ISD. He opened Heritage High School in 2009 as social studies teacher and swim coach, and in 2013, moved to Independence High School as social studies instructional coach, teacher and Academic Decathlon coach. He’s served as secondary social studies coordinator for the past six years. The TSSLA supports social studies leaders, advocating for high-quality instruction and ensuring that students receive a rich and meaningful education, and Rush’s position on the board reflects his unwavering dedication to advancing social studies education across Texas. Congratulations, Mr. Rush!

A saxophone ensemble formed by Independence juniors Alex Walker and Sahishnh Satish and seniors Darshan Senthil Kumar and Stephen Choy finished second in the Mixed Ensemble at the prestigious international Coltman Chamber Music Competition in March.
