FISD Hosts Largest-Ever Battle of the Books
Frisco ISD’s most passionate high school readers faced off at the largest-ever Battle of the Books, held in April at Emerson High School. For the second year in a row, a record number of students participated in the bracket-style quiz competition, answering questions about a preapproved list of books that they’ve been reading since fall. Congratulations to the Chaotic Cassowaries team at Liberty High School on their second consecutive win!
Theater Programs Advance to Region UIL

Stafford Bands Earn Honors at Dallas Festival
The Stafford Middle School Honor Winds and Wind Symphony bands traveled this month to the Meyerson Symphony Center in Dallas to compete in the Dallas Winds Invitational Festival. The Honor Winds band won Outstanding Small School Windband for the entire festival, and Outstanding Small School Woodwinds!! Congratulations to Stafford musicians and their directors!
High School Musicals Nominated for Broadway Dallas Awards
Several FISD schools and performers are among the nominees in Broadway Dallas’ annual High School Musical Theatre Awards. Nominees are invited to an awards ceremony May 17, which includes both performance and production categories. Frisco ISD’s theater programs are a model of excellence, in large part because of its student opportunity model that ensures more students have a chance to participate and lead in extracurriculars. Architecture Student Receives National ACE Scholarship
Aadi Kabrawala, a Reedy High School senior and fourth-year architecture student at the Career and Technical Education Center, has received the National ACE Mentorship Program scholarship, earning $12,000 as he heads Texas Tech University to continue his studies! This marks the third National ACE Mentorship Program scholarship winner from the CTE Center’s Architecture program since 2019, a testament to the hard work and talent of CTEC students. Congratulations, Aadi!
Frisco ISD Sign Services Wins Award
Congratulations to the team at Frisco ISD Sign Services on their Silver Award in the In-Print 2025 contest. Sign Services was recognized for their Let's Get Crackin' holiday packet in the Rigid Substrates category, one of a few dozen to be honored in the competition. Frisco ISD Sign Services provides print and design services for most of the signage that can be found in and around campuses, saving the District thousands of dollars each school year.
Borchardt Student Creates Winning Butterfly Artwork
Congratulations to Riddhi Pillai, a fifth grader at Borchardt Elementary, for winning the Grand Prize in the Butterfly Festival Art Contest. Riddhi’s winning piece will become the featured image for Wimberly’s 2026 Butterfly Festival postcard and T-shirt.

Pritika Kharkwal, a senior at Lebanon Trail High School, has been named 2025 National Winner by the National Honor Society, which includes a $25,000 scholarship.
Shourjo Chatterjee, a second grader at Ashley Elementary School, has received Grand Honors from the John Hopkins Center of Talented Youth for his score on their SCAT (School and College Ability Test) examination.
