Around of applause for Angelica Salazar Diaz from Corbell Elementary and Chan’Cellore Makanjuola from the Communications Department for receiving our March Standing Ovation Awards!

Each month, Frisco ISD shines a spotlight on exceptional non-instructional staff who exemplify the District’s core values.

Superintendent Dr. Mike Waldrip took the time to visit Angelica and Chan’Chellore to thank them for their outstanding service and the positive difference they make every day.

Frisco ISD is proud to celebrate their leadership, dedication and unwavering support for our students and staff!

Angelica Salazar Diaz - Custodian, Corbell Elementary School

Corbell Elementary School’s mission is to “demonstrate compassion and lead with heart,” and Angelica embodies that every day.

While Angelica works at Corbell as a custodian, her daily contributions extend far beyond that. She works to build relationships with students and staff, and has a vested interest in each of their lives. Those relationships, plus a keen ability to notice those in need, means that Angelica has been able to provide comfort or a helping hand to many at Corbell.

Angelica is also a beacon of light to the English language learners at Corbell. There are often students at school who are new to the area and sometimes feel isolated and alone. Angelica bridges the gap by reaching out to the students and making them feel welcome. She goes above and beyond to encourage, guide and support the children.

Angelica’s colleagues describe her as an example of love and light in a world that can sometimes be daunting. Her grace and compassion make Corbell a special place and Angelica deserving of the Standing Ovation Award!

Chan’Cellore Makanjuola - Multimedia Specialist, Communications Department

As a multimedia specialist, Chan’Cellore is an outstanding advocate for Frisco ISD students and staff. Chan’Cellore is a kind and engaging interviewer, and her attention to detail and love of her work shines in the videos, photos and social media posts she creates.

On any given day, Chan’Cellore can be found visiting campuses across the District, capturing stories for teacher and program spotlights that highlight the incredible staff who make Frisco ISD truly exceptional. She spends many mornings and evenings outside her work hours to film events such as dance show-offs, the marching band showcase and athletic practices.

Chan’Cellore is creative and adaptable, and she is always willing to lend a hand. During the fall bond election, she filmed hours of footage to create videos for the community input sessions. When Access Frisco launched, Chan’Cellore helped produce videos featuring each of the campuses to share their story with current families and community members.

Beyond her incredible work ethic, Chan’Cellore is a wonderful co-worker. She is supportive, curious and funny, and she’s always ready to help anyone in need. No matter what’s going on, she’s quick to lend a hand. Her passion for what she does and her gift for telling the District’s story make her a perfect fit for the Standing Ovation Award.
