State Designates Nutrition Department ‘Best of the Bunch’

The Texas Department of Agriculture has chosen Frisco ISD as one of its “Best of the Bunch” school districts as part of its Farm Fresh Challenge for FISD’s commitment to serving local foods, teaching about nutrition and showcasing its efforts on social media! The District also received a Local Food in Schools grant, which has been a game-changer in helping FISD reduce its annual spending on milk. Congratulations!

Academic Decathlon Students Headed to State

Lebanon Trail High School finished first at the recent Academic Decathlon region competition, and will be joined by nine other Frisco ISD high schools at the state competitions this spring. Also at the region competition, dozens of FISD students earned individual medals for their success in the academic tests and events. AcDec provides high school students with an opportunity to experience the challenges of rigorous academic competition through participation in team activities. FISD Students Among Texas Theatre Scholars

Texas Thespians has honored 15 Frisco ISD students with their Texas Theatre Scholar Awards, recognizing theater students who demonstrate high academic success and participation in their theater program. Congratulations to Centennial’s Samantha Hengstenberg; Emerson’s Rebecca Herrera Da Silveira, Hannah Hill, Madison Mintz and Erin Webb; Frisco’s Willow Nwamadi; Heritage’s Russell Moon; Independence’s Danielle Babcock and Emma Dachowicz; Lebanon Trail’s Aditya Pundhir; Liberty’s Dhillan Desai; Lone Star’s Selah Aris and Nolan Wildrick; Panther Creek’s Kaitlyn Corley; and Reedy’s Ella Mangum.

Frisco ISD Educators Named Teachers on the Rise

Congratulations to two Frisco ISD educators named January winners of the Teachers on the Rise program! Izzy Craig of Minett Elementary School and Cheyenne Wilson of Emerson High School were nominated for going above and beyond for their students. Craig, in her first year at Minett, teaches fourth grade and has helped out with the school play. Wilson, who has been at Emerson for four years, teaches art and is a sponsor for Art Club and the National Art Honor Society. Nominations are submitted by students and families wanting to recognize educators who go above and beyond for their students. The prize includes Market Street and American Express gift cards and a Mrs Bairds gift basket. Congratulations!

FISD Dietitian Earns ‘Trayblazer’ Kudos

Frisco ISD dietitian Renell Ford has been recognized by General Mills as a “Trayblazer” for going above and beyond to feed kids in the FISD community. A nomination letter praised Ford’s leadership, which has paved the way for groundbreaking initiatives that are transforming school meals and setting new standards for excellence. Congratulations, Renell!

Navy JROTC Victorious at Recent Contest

Frisco ISD’s Navy JROTC, housed at Lebanon Trail High School, had an impressive showing at the 2025 Area 19 Drill Championship this month at the Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base in Fort Worth. The FISD team took first place in Academics, with Karina Roberts earning first, Neureka Kundu earning third and Shanvi Singh placing fifth in overall individual academics. FISD teams also took home second place in 1,600-Yard Relay and second in Personal Inspection. Kimberly Sullivan also earned second in female push-ups overall. The team placed first in the state championship competition, as well. Congratulations!

High Schoolers Place at Digital Divas Conference

Fifty-one students from four Frisco ISD high schools attended this month’s Digital Divas conference and programming contest, bringing home several recognitions. As part of the conference, students heard from professionals from Google, Samsung and other companies, who encouraged the 300-plus female students from across the state to continue their computer science journeys. The following schools were recognized on stage for the programming contest:

  • Centennial: 1st Place Overall Texas Award

  • Lone Star: 3rd Place Advanced DFW Award

  • Heritage: 2nd Place Novice DFW Award

  • Krishangi Shroff, a freshman at Lone Star High School, has been awarded the prestigious "Yes I Can" Award in the Self Advocacy Category from the Council for Exceptional Children for 2025.

  • Reedy High School senior Scarlett Rae Sweckard earned second place and first runner-up for nationals in the recent American Legion State Oratorical Constitutional Contest.

  • Reedy High School junior Milan McKnight earned first place and a scholarship at the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Oration Competition & Gala in January.
