Frisco ISD is home to an extraordinary number of state-winning academic, athletic and fine arts competitors — mock trial now joins that list.
The mock trial team at the Career and Technical Education Center was victorious in six head-to-head rounds, including the final championship round, to win the 46th Annual Texas High School Mock Trial Competition in Dallas this month. The team includes students from eight Frisco ISD high schools.
This year’s championship follows three consecutive years of second-place state finishes, reflecting the mock trial team’s growth and success. To qualify for the state competition, the CTEC team was one of three regional co-champion teams from Region 10. At the regional competition, held in February, the team won three preliminary rounds, the semi-final round and the finalist competition round.
This year, more than 1,500 students from across Texas participated in mock trial competition. The program provides a great way for students to gain an “insider’s view” of the judicial system, gain confidence speaking in front of others and have a lot of fun at the same time.
The competition, organized by the Dallas Bar Association Mock Trial Committee, is open to all high school students – public, private and homeschool.
The state-winning mock trial team will now head to the National High School Mock Trial Competition in May.
