t was another banner year for Frisco ISD tennis, capped off by a long list of medalists and state champions Friday after two days of competition at the UIL state tournament in San Antonio.
The Lebanon Trail mixed doubles team of Aaditt Rishi and Addison Rosser won the 5A state title for the second straight year. Rishi, a junior, and Rosser, a senior, were dominant throughout the spring and won their championship match in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2.
Aariz Rehman was FISD’s other state champion, racing through the 4A boys singles bracket without dropping a set in his three matches. The sophomore won his championship match by a 6-4, 6-1 score.
Two FISD teams won silver medals in the 5A doubles draws, with Siyona Das and Avani Tripathi of Independence finishing second in the girls bracket and Memorial’s Zach Belyea and Sohan Chintala as state runner-up in the boys bracket. Centennial’s girls doubles team of Akriti Bhati and Noa Kosman received bronze medals after advancing to the 5A semifinals.
In 5A boys singles, Independence’s Manas Kondapalli and Heritage’s Mithun Kutuva both advanced to the semifinals and received bronze medals.
FISD had a total of 17 athletes competing at state in singles and doubles, more than any other district in Texas. FISD tennis players have now won a total of eight state titles in the last five years.
Additionally, during the fall tennis season, Centennial won its second straight 5A state team tennis title. Centennial coach Doug Fair was honored at the state tournament Friday as the 2024 UIL Boys Tennis Coach of the Year.
