High schoolers playing soccer

Four rounds deep into the UIL soccer playoffs, the soccer depth in Frisco ISD is taking center stage. A record five FISD teams will be playing in regional finals on Tuesday as each tries to move a step closer to a state title.

The teams, their brackets and their regional semifinal results from Friday and Saturday:

BOYS
5A Division II: Liberty defeated Midlothian Heritage 3-1
5A Division II: Wakeland defeated West Mesquite 5-1
4A Division I: Panther Creek defeated Kilgore in penalty kicks (after OT tied 2-2)

GIRLS
5A Division I: Reedy defeated Lake Belton 4-0
5A Division II: Wakeland defeated Belton 4-0

A sixth FISD team nearly made the regional finals as the Emerson boys lost 1-0 to Dallas Bryan Adams in overtime in a 5A Division I Region 2 semifinal.

The Wakeland and Liberty boys teams will meet in the 5A Division II Region 2 semifinal, but the other three FISD regional finalists will play opponents from outside Frisco ISD. All the FISD teams are adding to the District’s soccer legacy, which includes nine state champions in the last nine seasons.

Good luck to all the FISD teams!

All regional finals will be played Tuesday (March 31).
