Frisco ISD has entered into a new partnership with Elite Hockey Academy to provide expanded academic opportunities for student-athletes through the District’s Frisco Flex program.
The agreement, effective March 9, is the first step in the District providing full-time educational services through Frisco Flex to eligible students participating in top-tier hockey.
“This partnership is about doing what we’ve always done — putting students first and helping each one reach their full potential,” said Superintendent Dr. Todd Fouche. “Frisco Flex allows student-athletes to pursue elite training opportunities while staying connected to the strong academics, relationships and supports that help them succeed.”
Through the partnership, Frisco ISD will administer all educational services, maintain student records and provide curriculum aligned with the Texas Education Code. The District will assign a certified teacher to provide on-site academic support at practice facilities, ensuring students receive high-quality instruction while pursuing their athletic development.
The cost of the on-site teaching position will be shared between the District and Elite Hockey Academy until the 2028-29 school year, when the hockey program assumes full program costs.
The Tier I hockey development program focuses on preparing student-athletes for college placement and long-term success by emphasizing discipline, time management, leadership and personal responsibility both on and off the ice.
The partnership serves a clear public purpose by expanding access to flexible academic programming while supporting the unique scheduling needs of high-level student-athletes. Frisco ISD will continue to oversee all academic standards, student services and disciplinary procedures in accordance with District policy and the Student Code of Conduct.
