Athletic participation in Frisco ISD, like other extracurricular activities, is a valuable part of a well-rounded educational experience. Athletics competition helps student-athletes develop into leaders by fostering character, sportsmanship and achievement that prepares them for what’s next in their lives.
Competing at a high level is also a goal of FISD Athletics, and as the 2025-26 school year comes to a close, it’s a time to celebrate the achievements of teams and individual students that helped make the school year so memorable.
Leading the way were two FISD teams that won state championships during the 2025-26 school year.
In October, Centennial won the 5A state team tennis championship in Waco. It was the third straight state title for the Titans, who beat powerhouse Highland Park in the third round and fellow FISD tennis powerhouse Independence in the 5A Region 2 final.
In March, the Heritage boys basketball team won the 5A Division I State Championship at the Alamodome in San Antonio. It was the first UIL state team championship for Heritage High School, and the Coyotes became the first FISD boys basketball team to win a state title.
In addition to the state champions, five FISD teams finished as a state runner-up.
That included the Lone Star football team, as well as a pair of teams from Reedy: the girls swimming and diving team and the girls golf team. The Heritage boys track and field team finished second in the state, and the Wakeland boys soccer team was state runner-up.
Another seven FISD teams finished either in the top three of state or as a state semifinalist:
Liberty girls volleyball (state semifinalist)
Centennial girls swim and dive (3rd)
Wakeland boys swim and dive (3rd)
Memorial girls basketball (state semifinalist)
Wakeland girls soccer (state semifinalist)
Panther Creek girls golf (3rd)
Panther Creek baseball (state semifinalist)
FISD athletes also had a year of tremendous individual success in sports such as golf, swim and dive, tennis, track and field and wrestling. FISD athletes earned 55 individual regional titles and won 35 state medals, and there were nine individual state champions:
Swimming: Centennial girls 200 free relay (Mackenzie Corbin, Veronica Shofran, Dylan Volk, Shanzay Tufail)
Track and field: CJ Williams, Heritage
Track and field: Amelia Fair, Heritage
Track and field: Andrew Malan, Lebanon Trail
Wrestling: Jordyn Parker, Centennial
Wrestling: Camille Harris, Memorial
Wrestling: Leo Ashurov, Reedy
Tennis: Aaditt Rishi, Lebanon Trail
Tennis: Aariz Rehman, Panther Creek
