The Frisco ISD Book Bus is wrapped with a bright blue superhero-themed design

The Frisco ISD Book Bus is stocked, wrapped and ready to roll, with a summer schedule full of reading fun.

After the Book Bus was announced this spring, final touches were completed, including an exterior wrap designed by one of Frisco ISD’s brilliant high school students.

Kylie Gore, Liberty High School 2026 graduate, will see her bold, books-and-superhero-themed illustration all over town starting soon. Kylie’s design was voted the winner in a classwide competition last month.

A group of District leaders surprised Kylie with the news she had won, stopping by her graphic design and illustration class at the CTE Center as students worked on the city of Frisco’s annual Green Team coloring book.

Kylie said winning the contest gives her a confidence boost as she heads to college to study communication design. Her design has a special personal meaning, too.

“I was happy that mine got picked because, growing up, me and my brother loved superheroes, and we would even make our own heroes,” Kylie said. “The characters on the bus are based on those superheroes.

“It’s kind of like the quote in Spider-Man — ‘Anyone can wear the mask.’ Anyone can be anything and anyone can learn anything from the message in books, no matter the age.”

Kylie’s design was applied to the Book Bus by 360 Wraps, with funds provided by H-E-B.

The Book Bus aims to provide library services to students regardless of their location or time of year. The bus — which was set to be retired — was donated by FISD Transportation, then it was gutted and the interior refitted to become a mobile library. The entire project has been a labor of love by the Library Services team, with support from many FISD departments, District leaders and local businesses.
