Frisco ISD cross country runners got off to an early start, and a fast one, on Friday at the Rock Hill XC Opener in Prosper.

Wakeland was second in the Elite Girls team standings, while Centennial was fifth and Reedy was seventh. Lone Star topped the Open Girls team standings. Among the boys, Wakeland was seventh and Reedy was 14th in the Elite Boys standings.

Individually, Wakeland’s Lily Schmidt finished second and Centennial’s Nandini Vegesana finished third in the Elite Varsity Girls race. The 2-mile course featured some of the top Class 5A and 6A runners from across the Dallas area.

Other Frisco ISD girls in the top 20 of the elite race were Reedy’s Julia Seelman (13th) and Lainey O’Connor (14th), Centennial’s Anastasia Usovich (16th) and Wakeland’s Caelan Chen (20th).

Three FISD boys finished in the top 20 of the Elite Boys race, which was also a 2-mile course. Wakeland’s Adam Lane was 14th and his teammate Blake Moon was 15th, while Independence’s Jacob Huchthausen finished 19th.
