Congratulations Lone Star, Lebanon Trail and Reedy bands

Last weekend, over 600 Frisco ISD students left for the UIL Marching Band Championships as accomplished musicians and state qualifiers.

This week, every single one of them made history.

For the first time in their history, both Lone Star and Lebanon Trail marching bands earned state UIL medals, taking second and third, respectively. Meanwhile, Reedy catapulted to 10th place at the band’s first state marching contest appearance.

“To see Frisco represented at this level of competition with three schools is just incredible — all three bands performed their best run of the year this week in the Alamodome,” said Pete Hazzard, managing director of fine arts. “This is a historic moment for our district, where in one year in 5A, Frisco ISD came home with both the bronze and the silver medals. We are so proud of Reedy, Lebanon Trail and Lone Star!”

Texas is one of the top states for marching band, and North Texas is home to a particularly high number of strong competitors and overall winners. Texas has 250 schools in 5A — so ranking in the top 10 is an enormous achievement — and every state medalist was from Area B, where all Frisco ISD 5A schools compete.

These achievements wouldn’t be possible without the dedicated directors, school administrators and parents supporting students at every step. Frisco ISD’s student opportunity model also ensures more students have a chance to fight for state success across many programs.

Congratulations!
