Voter-approved 2018 bond funds were at work this summer at campuses across Frisco ISD, providing critical infrastructure and technology updates to help ensure students have safe, welcoming learning environments.
At 40 campuses and District facilities, summer bond-funded projects included new heating and cooling systems, cafeteria flooring, and updated network connections.
This summer is one of the last to use 2018 bond funds for campus work. District leaders stretched the funds beyond their anticipated end date as part of the District Sustainability Plan, prioritizing projects that address the most critical needs. With the 2018 funding nearing its end and voters not approving the 2024 bond package, other planned projects have been deferred.
Deferred projects include partial and whole-campus painting, LED updates, furniture and fixture refreshes, and technology updates.
While routine and emergency maintenance occurs year-round through the District's operating budget, bond funds provide support for larger-scale facility improvements and updates that help extend the life of school buildings.

As FISD schools age, ongoing maintenance and minor renovations remain important to keep facilities in good condition and prevent smaller issues from becoming more costly repairs.

Campus renovations
Seven campuses received either cafeteria or locker room flooring replacements.
Four FISD campuses or buildings received HVAC replacements.
Landscaping projects were completed across the District.
Technology updates
Thanks to the 2018 bond, the District has replaced technology on a refresh schedule, ensuring devices remain in good condition. As equipment is refreshed, the District requires updates to its network infrastructure to accommodate the new devices.
Nine elementary schools received Chromebooks for staff and students.
Four middle schools received refreshed desktop computers for computer labs, and staff and student Chromebooks.
One campus received new projectors.
Fifteen schools and District facilities received updates to network equipment, including wireless access points.
Rising ninth graders participating in the 1 For All program received new Chromebooks.
Athletics projects
One track received a resurface and restripe.
Two tracks received a structural spray.
Four campuses received a tennis court resurface.
Three campuses received turf replacements.
