Christi Schettler, music teacher at Corbell Elementary School, has been honored as North Texas Performing Arts’ 2026 Distinguished Elementary Performing Arts Educator. Christi — a 23-year educator who has been at Corbell since it opened in 2006 — was honored for going “above and beyond” to provide a meaningful and impactful performing arts educational experience for her students. “I am deeply honored to be named NTPA's 2026 Distinguished Elementary Performing Arts Educator,” Christi said. “Over the years, I have been blessed to share the joy of making music with every one of the thousands of children who have been part of our Corbell community. Helping them grow in confidence, creativity, self-expression, and a genuine love of music has been one of the greatest joys of my life.” She will be recognized at the NTPA Stardust Awards in November. Congratulations, Christi!

October is National Cybersecurity Awareness Month!

National Cybersecurity Awareness Month (NCSAM), launched in October 2004, continues to raise awareness about the importance of cybersecurity across our Nation and helps ensure that individuals, families, schools, and communities have resources they need to be safer and more secure online. Lace Up and Start Walking October 7, 2026 for Walk 'n Roll to School Day!

In partnership with Frisco ISD, students and families are encouraged to take part in Walk 'n Roll to School Day. The event promotes pedestrian safety and highlights the importance of regular physical activity for children's health and well-being.

This event has been canceled, due to the weather. The game will now be played at 4pm this afternoon at Kuykendall Stadium.

The Frisco ISD Book Bus is ready to hit the road in October, sharing literacy fun and free books with children from around the FISD area.

Staff, students, parents and community members selected to serve on District committees for the 2026-27 school year were notified this week following approval by the Board of Trustees at its regular September meeting. Each committee is part of the larger District Advisory Council, which provides feedback to the Board on District initiatives, goals, programs and compliance-related matters. The District is grateful for everyone who volunteered their time and interest to serve.

• Calendar Committee: As work begins on the 2027-28 instructional calendar, Frisco ISD is first soliciting stakeholder feedback to guide the District’s calendar committee. The 2027-28 Instructional Calendar Survey is open Sept. 17-Oct. 2. Access the survey.

• Bond Planning Committee: FISD is exploring a possible spring 2027 bond, starting with formation of a Bond Planning Committee. Applications are open through Friday, Sept. 25. Apply online.

The first option is this Friday morning, September 18th, immediately following Celebrate Corbell.
The second Title 1 Parent Annual Meeting will be virtual in combination with our ESL parent meeting on Friday, September 25 at 9 am. Here is the link for the virtual meeting.

The Frisco ISD Book Bus wrapped up a busy summer schedule this month, bringing literacy fun to every corner of the District starting just days after its June completion. To give a sense of the impact, the Library and Technology Services Department shared a few impressive numbers:

• 1,322 - Books given away to children

• 100 - Miles traveled to book bus stops

• 14 - Stops made this summer

The Book Bus is gearing up for fall and will be ready to roll out an updated schedule soon. To find out when and where they will be, visit the Frisco ISD Book Bus webpage and follow along on Facebook and Instagram.

The Frisco ISD School Board is eager to hear from staff, students and community members, and there are a number of ways to share your feedback with Trustees. One method is by signing up to speak at Community Input Meetings, now scheduled for the 2026-27 school year:

• Oct. 5, 2026 - 6:30 p.m.

• Nov. 30, 2026 - 6:30 p.m.

• Feb. 22, 2027 - 6:30 p.m.

• April 26, 2027 - 6:30 p.m.

Meetings are held at the Frisco ISD Administration Building, and visitors should enter through the front doors.
