Welcome back to school graphic

Welcome to a new year, Frisco ISD families!

As the first day of school approaches, Frisco ISD reminds everyone to be mindful of children walking to school or riding their bikes. Please observe speed limits in school zones, obey directions from crossing guards and do not text or talk on your phone in these areas. Drivers may need to allow extra time to get to their destination. Find tips on walking, biking or driving to school safely.

➡️ New for 2026-27

A few new policies and procedures will greet families as the school year gets started. (➡️ Look for the arrow icon below for more updates.)

1:1 Accidental Damage Protection Plan: Secondary students and Wortham fifth graders will have a new, optional fee to offset the cost of Chromebook repairs.

Students who pay the annual, nonrefundable $20/year fee will have the first instance of repairable accidental damage covered at 100% or at a significant discount if the whole device or screen must be replaced; if multiple damaged parts are found, coverage applies to the most expensive repair. Those who haven’t paid the fee must pay the full cost. This annual fee can only be paid now through Sept. 4 in Online School Fees.

Retests and grading: Students who score below an 80 on a graded assignment will be able to reassess up to a maximum grade of 80. This change will be standardized across all grade levels, all courses and all campuses.

E-scooters: Due to municipal ordinance, all Frisco ISD students will be prohibited from traveling to or from school using an e-scooter. In partnership with the Frisco Police Department and with student safety at the forefront, the Student Code of Conduct has been updated to reflect this priority. Learn more from the Frisco Police Department.

Meet the Teacher nights

Students and families will get a chance to meet their teachers and see their classrooms on the following dates:

  • Elementary school and Early Childhood School - Monday, Aug. 10

  • Wortham Intermediate - Tuesday, Aug. 11

  • Middle school - Tuesday, Aug. 25

  • High school - Monday, Aug. 24

  • Career and Technical Education Center - Monday, Aug. 31

School calendars

Academic calendars can be found on the FISD website.

  • Find the school hours for all campuses.

    • ➡️New for 2026-27: School hours were extended by five minutes per day, at the end of the day. Learn more.

  • The secondary bell schedules can be found on each campus’s website.

  • Middle school students follow a modified block schedule. Each Monday, Tuesday and Friday, students attend their full, eight-period day schedule. On Wednesdays, students only attend their “odd” classes. On Thursdays, students will attend their “even” classes.

  • High school students follow an A/B calendar. They attend four of their eight classes on any given school day.

Class schedules

Elementary students can expect to receive an email from their homeroom teacher around or before Meet the Teacher night (this varies from campus to campus). Grade-level schedules can be found on campus websites.

Middle and high school students who completed registration, submitted proof of residency and took care of any campus holds by May 22 will be able to view their schedule in HAC on Aug. 3 at 10 a.m.

  • Campuses will send out electronic reminders to parents who have not completed those items.

School supplies

Elementary and middle school campuses post their school supply lists on their campus website.

The required supplies in high schools depend on the unique courses the student has selected. During the first week of school, teachers inform students what they need for the class. In general, high school students should bring paper, a writing utensil and folder on the first day of school.

High school students with District Chromebooks should bring their fully charged Chromebook and charging cable on the first day of school. Students taking Algebra I and above have access to a class set of TI-84 calculators for use during class.

1:1 Technology

Learn about Frisco ISD’s 1:1 Technology Program for all grade levels.

Pre-K, kindergarteners and first graders have access to iPads. Second through fifth graders have Chromebooks at a 1:1 ratio. Elementary students do not take their devices home.

Intermediate, middle, and high school students will be assigned a Chromebook for use at home and school. Each campus determines its own plan for distributing student devices.

Technology tools and support can be found on the District website; however, there are additional supports available:

  • Call 469-633-6222 on school days between 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

  • Secondary students are able to enter their own tickets by searching for the Incident IQ tile in the Student Portal if their Chromebook is not working or damaged.

Meals

Check out a guide to FISD Child Nutrition.

Frisco ISD uses SchoolCafe for online meal account prepayments. Once you set up the account, you can use SchoolCafe to:

  • View the daily menus in the SchoolCafe app or at www.schoolcafe.com/FRISCOISD/menus.

  • Check how much money is in your student’s cafeteria account 24/7.

  • Deposit funds instantly to ensure your student won’t lose or forget lunch money.

  • View student’s cafeteria purchases to track spending and ensure your child is making healthy choices.

  • Set reminders to notify you each time the balance is low.

  • Activate an auto-pay feature.

Frisco ISD urges families who may qualify for meal benefits due to low family income to apply for reduced/free meals.

If your child has a special dietary need or restriction, the Child Nutrition webpage has a page dedicated to helping parents navigate requesting accommodations.

Transportation

Transportation is available free for children who live 2 miles or more from their assigned school, with a few exceptions.

Families do not need to register or apply to reserve a spot on a bus.

Transportation attempts to arrive at every bus stop on time. Due to variances of individual clocks, students are asked to arrive at the bus stop five minutes prior to the scheduled arrival time. Buses will load students and depart the stop. General education buses do not wait for late students. Learn more.

Special needs transportation follows much the same criteria but will wait up to two minutes after the scheduled pickup time at the stop. More information about special education transportation can be found on the Transportation webpage.
