Liberty High School orchestra students have been invited to the prestigious 80th Midwest Clinic International Band and Orchestra Conference.

Liberty’s Camerata Orchestra, the varsity orchestra, is one of only a few high school orchestras chosen from across the globe to perform at the clinic. The program was selected after an application process that included audio recordings and a portfolio. 

As another point of pride for Liberty and FISD, this is Liberty orchestra’s second time being invited to Midwest — in 2015, the full orchestra performed. The orchestra program is led by head director Julie Blackstock, assistant director Brandon Lucio and harp instructor Yumiko Schlaffer. \

The Midwest Clinic is the world's largest instrumental music education conference, and it draws about 18,000 attendees to Chicago each winter from all 50 states and as many as 40 countries. This is the fifth consecutive year a Frisco ISD high school ensemble has been invited to Midwest, in a testament to the excellence being nurtured every day in fine arts classrooms.
