This year, Frisco ISD has been proud to celebrate 146 students named National Merit Semifinalists, and then 144 Finalists, the highest numbers for any Texas school district.
Of those Finalists, 27 students have been awarded National Merit $2,500 or corporate-sponsored scholarships by the National Merit Scholarship Corp. The District expects additional winners when the college-sponsored National Merit Scholarships are announced in the summer.
This year’s National Merit Scholarship Program began in October 2024 when juniors took the Preliminary SAT (PSAT) as an initial screen for this honor. The PSAT is offered each fall to all 10th and 11th grade Frisco ISD students at no cost to them during the school day.
National Merit Scholarship recipients are chosen from a pool of 15,000 National Merit Finalists, recognizing a combination of accomplishments, skills and potential for success in rigorous college studies.
