Frisco ISD middle schoolers put their American history and civics know-how to the test in the recent Junior Citizen Bee competition.
Middle school students across the District competed at the campus level in Junior Citizen Bee, which tests their knowledge and understanding of key concepts in American history — including important people, documents and events.
Junior Citizen Bee questions reinforce eighth grade standards outlined in the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills, and can serve as a study guide for the STAAR exam.
The two top winners at each campus qualified for the first round of Region 10 competition, the written test. All 11 students who advanced to Region 10’s second round, the oral competition, were from Frisco ISD.
At the Region 10 competition, Lawler’s Jigna Sriram took first place, Clark’s Nikita Dinesh got second and Fowler’s Vanya Agarwal was third. The top two advance to the fourth annual state Junior Citizen Bee, which will be held May 12-13. Winners will receive cash prizes.
Congratulations to the following Region 10 winners at each Frisco ISD middle school. Those who advanced to the Region 10 oral competition, listed in bold, will be recognized at the Board of Trustees’ regular May meeting.
