Frisco ISD’s exceptional theater arts programs shared the stage with the best in North Texas at the recent Broadway Dallas High School Musical Theatre Awards.

Two Frisco ISD high school programs celebrated wins at the May ceremony, collecting top awards and thousands of dollars in scholarships.

Congratulations to the following Frisco ISD winners:

• John Donnellan and Landry Griffith of Memorial High School, Little Shop of Horrors - Outstanding Stage Management

• Rohan Singh of Centennial High School, The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical

  • Runner-Up for Best Lead Performer

  • Spirit Award $2,500 Scholarship

  • Theatre Major $2,500 Scholarship

• Mae Quinn of Centennial High School - Technical Theatre $2,500 Scholarship

• Sami Hengstenberg of Centennial High School - Technical Theatre $2,500 Scholarship 

• John Donnellan of Memorial High School - Bobby Mahuran Theatre Ambassador $2,500 Scholarship

The High School Musical Theatre Awards celebrate the best of the best in North Texas theater. The awards are open to any public, private or charter high school, and schools of all sizes compete in the same categories. Nominees and teachers were honored in a special ceremony that is modeled after the Tony Awards. 

Centennial High School theater is led by directors Darius Moore and Hope Warner. Memorial’s theater program is led by directors Nikki Silva and Julie Melone. 

These awards cap off a banner year for Frisco ISD theater. This spring, Centennial High School advanced to state in One-Act Play, cementing their place as one of the eight best 5A programs in the state, while Lebanon Trail was named alternate to state. Thirteen students moved on to the UIL Theatrical Design Contest in May, while FISD was named a Texas Thespians Premier Community for Theatre Education for the fourth time.
