Safety and security update

Fulfilling a commitment to staff and families, Frisco ISD is proud to announce the hiring and training of every School Marshal a year ahead of schedule.

The hiring process began in fall 2025 and was expected to take two years; instead, thanks to a large pool of highly qualified candidates from law enforcement backgrounds, every FISD elementary campus has a School Marshal on staff for the 2026-27 school year, with full credentials expected soon from the state.

“We know that students learn best and teachers can do their best work when they feel safe and secure,” said Superintendent Dr. Todd Fouche. “Having a School Marshal on every elementary campus gives our staff, students and families an added sense of confidence and peace of mind. We’re proud to have made this important investment in our schools and to have these professionals in place ahead of schedule.”

The Board of Trustees approved the School Marshal Program in spring 2025 as part of a multi-layered approach to safety and security. While School Resource Officers will continue rotating among elementary schools, adoption of the marshal program ensures every campus in Frisco ISD has trained security personnel on campus full time.

The District is grateful for the partnership of Frisco, McKinney, Plano and Little Elm police departments on the existing School Resource Officer program. Adding marshals at elementary schools not only enhances security on those campuses, but allows SROs to focus primarily on secondary campuses that serve as their home base.

Providing a safe learning environment for staff and students is Frisco ISD’s top priority. To support that commitment, the District has spent years strengthening its layered safety and security measures through a combination of personnel, technology and emergency preparedness initiatives, which include:

  • Full-time SROs at secondary campuses and School Marshals at elementary campuses; and rotating SROs at elementaries

  • Standardized video doorbell entry at every campus

  • Security camera upgrades and system updates

  • SAFER partnership with local law enforcement, where they can access school cameras live in an emergency

  • Standard Response Protocol

  • Criminal background checks on all employees, volunteers and contractors who work on District property

  • Crisis management plans and teams at each campus

  • STOPit anonymous online tip line

  • Full-time nurses at each campus

  • Regular, unannounced security audits

  • Regular safety drills and training for staff
