Staff, students, parents and community members selected to serve on District committees for the 2026-27 school year were notified this week following approval by the Board of Trustees at its regular September meeting. Each committee is part of the larger District Advisory Council, which provides feedback to the Board on District initiatives, goals, programs and compliance-related matters. The District is grateful for everyone who volunteered their time and interest to serve.

• Calendar Committee: As work begins on the 2027-28 instructional calendar, Frisco ISD is first soliciting stakeholder feedback to guide the District’s calendar committee. The 2027-28 Instructional Calendar Survey is open Sept. 17-Oct. 2. Access the survey.

• Bond Planning Committee: FISD is exploring a possible spring 2027 bond, starting with formation of a Bond Planning Committee. Applications are open through Friday, Sept. 25. Apply online.

Applications are open now for FISD Insight, a comprehensive, behind-the-scenes look at Frisco ISD operations. Members of each FISD Insight class come away with a complete understanding of the District, from academics and fine arts to transportation and technology and more. They will hear from department leaders as well as current Frisco ISD students, and have a chance to ask questions. Classes, which are held once or twice a month, will be hosted at various District facilities.

• Membership: Applicants must live within Frisco ISD boundaries, and must not be prior participants. Only one adult per household.

• A background check is required.

• Cost: $20, collected at the first class

• Apply now through Sept. 18 at 4 p.m.

• Three Frisco ISD schools were recognized at the August School Board meeting for their generous donations to Frisco Family Services! Over 43,000 pounds of food representing over 36,000 meals were donated across all Frisco ISD campuses last school year, with Wakeland High School (7,050 pounds), Isbell Elementary School (2,095 pounds) and McSpedden Elementary School (1,834 pounds) as the top donors.

• Current Frisco ISD students and recent graduates marched drum corps this summer, using skills developed in Frisco ISD band programs in auditions and on the competition field.

• Six Frisco ISD students in May earned the Girl Scouts Gold Award, the organization’s highest recognition. Congratulations to Maggie Cooley (Independence), Ishika Grandhi (Independence), Aleena Sohani (Lebanon Trail), Kensli Espadron (Lone Star), Ruhi Ladwa (Reedy) and Eshal Muhammad (Frisco).

The Frisco ISD Book Bus wrapped up a busy summer schedule this month, bringing literacy fun to every corner of the District starting just days after its June completion. To give a sense of the impact, the Library and Technology Services Department shared a few impressive numbers:

• 1,322 - Books given away to children

• 100 - Miles traveled to book bus stops

• 14 - Stops made this summer

The Frisco ISD School Board is eager to hear from staff, students and community members, and there are a number of ways to share your feedback with Trustees. One method is by signing up to speak at Community Input Meetings, now scheduled for the 2026-27 school year:

• Oct. 5, 2026 - 6:30 p.m.

• Nov. 30, 2026 - 6:30 p.m.

• Feb. 22, 2027 - 6:30 p.m.

• April 26, 2027 - 6:30 p.m.

Meetings are held at the Frisco ISD Administration Building, and visitors should enter through the front doors.

Congratulations to Frisco ISD agriculture students Reese and Griffin Dodson on a very accomplished summer break! Griffin and Reese, both members of the FISD Heifer Show Team, competed at the Texas Junior Simmental Simbrah Association State Futurity in Bryan, with Reese placing second in Cattle Skillathon and seventh overall Junior, and Griffin placing second in Public Speaking and seventh overall Intermediate. At July’s American Junior Simmental National competition in Nebraska, Reese's heifer Daisy earned honors as the third overall Bred and Owned Simbrah Heifer. Also last month, Griffin was elected to the Texas Junior Simmental Simbrah Association Executive Board and will serve as the 2026-27 secretary. Griffin is a Wakeland High School 10th grader, and Reese is a Griffin Middle School seventh grader. Way to represent FISD, Reese and Griffin!
